Teamwork

Makes the dream work

If it was easy, everyone would do it.  That's why we are so thankful to have the support of so many talented people working together for the benefit of our soccer community.

We are Lakeshore because of the coaches, managers, staff, parents, players, and volunteers that invest their time with us.  From all of us to all of you, thank you!

Leadership Team

Chris Lacey

PRESIDENT

Chris Lacey serves as the President of Lakeshore United FC.  As President, he is responsible for the overall strategic direction and organizational development of the club as well as the addition and integration of the Butzen Soccer Complex into Lakeshore United FC's operations and programming.  Prior to being elected as President in 2022, Lacey served as the Director of Operations for Lakeshore United FC (2013-2022) and President of the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (2016-2021).

While soccer now dominates his life, that wasn’t always the case.  “I didn’t play soccer as a kid.  Basketball was more my thing.”  But after Lacey became a father to children that loved the sport, he decided to get involved.  Lacey got his coaching start at the Sheboygan YMCA and has never looked back.  He has now been coaching for over 20 years including time spent with local recreational teams, Mequon United, North High School, and several LUFC Select teams, including the U18 Select Girls who were the 2017 Wisconsin State Cup Finalist.  Lacey holds a USSF Class C coaching license and is currently working towards his Class B

Chris lives in Sheboygan Falls and has 3 kids:  Bonnie (Marquette University), CJ, and Owen (Sheboygan South).

This Sheboygan South grad has deep roots in the community and now lives in Sheboygan Falls and works at Kohler Company.

Chris is an avid movie-watcher, enjoying everything from the latest Marvel blockbuster to Netflix documentaries.

Jonathan Greenfield

Director of Soccer operations

Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Director of Soccer Operations, Jonathan Greenfield grew up playing the game from a young age.  “In South Africa, soccer is the #1 sport - the most popular,” explained Greenfield. “Parents start kicking the ball around with their children as soon as they can walk.”  Greenfield brings a wealth of soccer-knowledge to the club that includes his experience as a youth soccer player (Durbanville Football Club), national team player (South Africa Youth National Team, US Men's Beach Soccer National Team), and professional player (South African Premier League, USL First Division, Major Arena Soccer League, National Indoor Soccer League).

After serving for 6 years as the LUFC Director of Coaching (2016-2022), Greenfield is now the LUFC Director of Soccer Operations where he is responsible for the setup and execution of all existing soccer programs and the continued development of new programming and soccer opportunities.  Despite all of his success on the pitch both as a player and coach, this 5-time champion often thinks about where it all started.  “It’s funny - when I reflect on my youth soccer experience, I don’t think about the national team. I think about Durbanville FC,” Greenfield said.  “That’s where I learned to play, where I spent time with my friends, and where I formed many of my childhood memories...Lakeshore United is a lot like Durbanville.  I want to see us continue to grow as a club and a family in this sport that we love."

Jon lives in Cedarburg with his wife, Layne, and their 3 elementary school-age children.

Jon has won 5 soccer championships,  including a number of MASL titles with the Milwaukee Wave.

Jon is a cooking enthusiast and dreams of competing in the South African reality show, The Ultimate Braai Master.

Sam Schroeder

Director of Coaching

Sam Schroeder is Lakeshore United FC's Director of Coaching (DOC).  Schroeder oversees the Select Coaching Staff and is responsible for the continued development of the Select Soccer Program.  As Director of Coaching, he is also a key resource supporting the Academy Director and Community Soccer Programs.

Schroeder is an alumni of Lakeland University where he majored in Education and played soccer from 2003-2006.  After graduation, he set forth to pursue his career ambition of being a soccer coach and joined the staff of Lakeland University as the Assistant Coach for the men's team.  During that time, he was also the Head Soccer Coach at Plymouth High School where he helped lead the boys team to the state semifinals in 2010. In 2011, Schroeder became the Head Coach for the women's soccer team at Ripon College.  During his 6 years at Ripon, he helped transform the women's soccer program to become regionally ranked. In 2017 Schroeder was an Assistant Coach at Indiana University before moving back to Minnesota to coach the U17 Development Academy at the prestigious Shattuck St. Mary's school from 2018-19.  In 2019 Schroeder returned to area and joined Lakeshore United FC where he served as U11-U14 Technical Director from 2019-2022.

Schroeder is an avid fisherman and enjoys being back in Sheboygan - both for the access to Lake Michigan and the unique opportunities at LUFC.  "Here we are really focused on 2 key areas: developing age groups and developing individual players. At the college level you develop teams so you can win...in the development academy you develop players. Here we're doing both."

Sam lives in Sheboygan with his wife, Abby.  They have 2 elementary school-age children, Sully and Hadley.

In addition to his passion on the pitch, Sam also loves hockey and coaches and works with the Sheboygan Lakers.

Sam is an avid fishermen and enjoys the opportunity to get out and enjoy nature whenever his busy schedule allows.
