Player evaluations and tryouts for the Select Program for the 2026-2027 Program Year are now open! The Select Program is for the committed soccer player that aspires to grow and mature in the sport. A player evaluation is required to be considered for a team.
Select Teams are formed annually through a tryout process led by the LUFC DOC and licensed coaches during the month of June. Tryouts will be conducted by age group over 2-3 consecutive days. Players are encouraged to attend as many days as possible for the most complete and accurate assessment.
Every player is required to register for tryouts to be considered for placement on a Select team.
Register in Playmetrics for $40 per player, per age group that the player will be evaluated for.
New Players to the Select Program must bring an original copy of their birth certificate to the first day of tryouts.
Arrive 15 minutes early on the first day of tryouts and check in at the Concession Stand.

Players should arrive with proper attire, including soccer shoes and shin gaurds (tryout shirt will be provided) and plenty of water.
It is strongly encouraged, but players are sometimes unable to avoid missing. Players must attend a minimum of one night to be considered for a Navy (top team) offer. All players missing a night must notify the DOC beforehand.
All players unable to attend due to vacation or other excused activity are still required to register for tryouts. After registering, players must contact the LUFC DOC to schedule a player evaluation.
The Academy and Select Programs are governed by US Soccer's age group classification. Age groups are determined by birth year. Your "U" age group is determined by a simple formula: Year Season Ends – Birth Year = Age Group For example: 2025-26 (Season) – 2011 (Birth Year) = U15 (Age Group)

Although not a common practice based on LUFC player development philosophy, there are cases where players may choose to tryout for an older age group. Interested players need to do 2 things: 1. Meet with the LUFC DOC prior to trying out2. Register for both tryouts (current age group + older age group)
LUFC encourages our players to play for their respective high school teams. For high school players, our club soccer season runs opposite of the WIAA high school season. Boys will play high school soccer in the fall, and LUFC Select soccer in the spring. Girls will play LUFC Select soccer in the fall, and WIAA high school soccer in the spring. High school boys and girls MUST try out in June to be considered for a Select team.
