As the chill of winter begins to thaw, Lakeshore United FC is buzzing with excitement for the upcoming Spring 2024 season, especially for our youngest athletes. We’re thrilled to open registration for our Juniors Program, designed specifically for 4K and 5K boys and girls eager to dive into the world of soccer.
From the moment families step onto the field for their first Juniors session, the energy is palpable. Our Program Coordinators will warmly welcome you, ensuring each young player receives their very own soccer ball and a stylish Lakeshore United FC shirt. But the excitement doesn’t stop at check-in. We waste no time getting our players onto the field to start playing and exploring the game they’re beginning to love.
In our Juniors Program, the focus is on fun, engagement, and the fundamentals of soccer. To maximize touches on the ball and ensure every child has ample opportunity to dribble, pass, and shoot, we organize players into 2v2 or 3v3 scrimmages. These small-sided games, set up with multiple goals, allow for continuous play and excitement. Without formal teams and rosters, players will receive a penny each week and join new teams upon arrival, fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment.
Our dedicated Juniors staff oversee these games, ready to demonstrate, encourage, and guide our young athletes. Midway through each session, we gather several groups for activities designed to introduce and practice essential soccer skills. These activities, often familiar to children but with a soccer twist, are crafted to be as enjoyable as they are educational.
Understanding the busy schedules of families, our Juniors Program is conveniently offered on three different nights of the week in Sheboygan, Sheboygan Falls, and Howards Grove.
This year, we’re introducing an exciting new feature for our 5K Juniors: “Friday Night Kicks” at Horace Mann Soccer Complex in Sheboygan. Every Friday evening from 5PM-6PM, 5K Juniors from all participating communities are invited to join open scrimmages. This additional playtime not only promises loads of fun but also prepares our young players for the transition to the Community Soccer Program in 1st grade.
