We are very fortunate to have some incredible coaches, staff, and volunteers here at Lakeshore United FC. Starting this week, we are launching a series called “We Are Lakeshore”, where we can get to know some of our many community members.
First up is Brian Doherty!
Brian Doherty has been coaching with Lakeshore United FC since 2015 and is the head coach for the U11 Select Boys and also assists with the U8-U10 Boys Academy. A soccer player at heart, Brian has been playing and involved with the sport his entire life. His youth career highlights include time playing with the US U17 Men’s National Team and winning the 1995 National Championship at the University of Wisconsin.
Post college, he went to Germany and spent three seasons with SV Wilhelmshaven and SC Feucht in the Third Bundesliga.
Returning to the US, Doherty played one season with the Milwaukee Rampage before joining the Bavarians where he won six amateur national titles.
If Coach Brian isn’t on the pitch, chances are you will find him spending time with his family or enjoying the outdoors – everything from mountain biking and trail running to whitewater kayaking.
He loves Triscuits, good pretzels, and Lionel Messi. And if there was one person he wishes he could be more like, Coach Brian would be Dora the Explorer
